Self-Love
I think self-love is one of the most important aspects of life! In treating eating disorders, helping clients find and establish love for themselves is a cornerstone of the treatment I do. Without it, clients have a more difficult time relating authentically to others and the world.
One of my favorite quotes ever is by Glennon Doyle (Author of “Untamed”—a fantastic book): “Self love means that I have a relationship with myself built on trust and loyalty. I trust myself to have my own back, so my allegiance is to the voice within […] Me and myself: We are till death so us part.”
Taylor McMonigle, AMFT
I am enthusiastic and passionate about bringing people closest to the most pure and honest versions of themselves through understanding, insight, and acceptance so they have the freedom for connection, enjoyment, and prosperity in a better world. People enjoy my strengths-based approach and I often incorporate therapeutic techniques from interpersonal, family systems, and culturally-informed treatments. Clients find me sincere, attentive, and compassionate and I thoroughly enjoy building a relationship with my clients. Clients often mention that I provide a sense of security for them through my active listening. I have success working with emerging adults, adults, and elders as individuals, as a couple, or within a family.
I have a passion for working with eating disorders and exercise addiction. I've worked in residential treatment centers where I've developed my skill in working with this population. I also worked with women who have experienced significant trauma(s), such as; sexual abuse and harassment, emotional, physical, and sexual abuse and neglect. Working with couples is another one of my strengths. I work from the Gottman method and am Gottman Level 1 Trained.
I am originally from a rural midwestern town, which helps me understand cultures and people from many different backgrounds and journeys. I am in Manhattan Beach on Mondays and Fridays and Santa Monica on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays. Allow me to take you on the road to wellness!
